Our mission.
Connecting community with place
through data and story.
FieldXplor (a project of Earth Teach) integrates place-based learning with citizen science, data, and story via community host sites aka field stations. Biological field stations are commonly known as places where scientists work in remote areas designed for long-term environmental research and observation.
Citizen science (aka community science) is the core foundation of our curriculum yet many students have never participated or have heard of the term. In one community college classroom, 50% of students were not familiar with the term citizen science. The concept is central to "open science," which allows the general public to help professional scientists with data collection and analysis.
FieldXplor serves as a community hub at the intersection between nature, community, and science.
